Event Calendar for 2010
March March 20th - General membership meeting at Summerseat
May May 31st - Yardville/Kennet Square Memorial Day ParadesPaid event for HMI, No brainer, lets have a good turnout for both
June June 19th - Colonial Plantation, Ridley Creek State Park Yearly event we do, good chance for those with Ranger kits to come out and play. The folks at the plantation treat us very well, and we should have a max effort. I know Monmouth is the same weekend, but who cares.
July July 16th to 18th - Fort La Presentation 250th Ogdensburg, NY Last major F&I 250th. Needless to say, should be well attended and one we all should try to go to.
August August 7th & 8th - Bushy Run Battlefield, Jeannette, Pa. Western PA site of 1763 clash between Natives and mixed force of Anglo-Americans. Went there last year and had a blast. They treated me very well and I made some great contacts. Battles are real powder burners set in the woods. The Heritage Society cooked up a huge spread for all re-enactors on Saturday night and we ate like Kings. Kit for non-natives would be that of Barrett's Company of Rangers. Very easy to pull off. See me for Details.
August 21st & 22nd - Old Bedford Village, Bedford, Pa. Those of us that went there in 08, had a great time. Some of the best tactical you can imagine. This year's event for feature "Braddock's Defeat" scenario. Sure to be good one.
September Sept. 11th & 12th - U.S. Army Heritage Center, Carlisle, Pa. www.carlisle.army.mil/ahec/index.cfm Rapidly expanding time line event at a very interesting location. The Army Heritage Center features all kinds of exhibits ranging all the conflicts the US was involved in. The folks there want an F&I presence at the event, specifically, French-Canadian.
October October 9th & 10th - Fort Ligonier Days, Ligonier, Pa. Wonderful reconstructed 18 century fort built on original location. Went there last fall and despite some rain. had a great time. We can stay in the period building inside the fort. Unfortunately the town of Ligonier is built up all around the fort, so you don't have much of an 18th century experience other the being in the fort. The fort museum in itself is worth making the trip. Unbelievable collection of F&I and Seven Year War artifacts and paintings. Awesome! The town puts on a huge open air market down the main street with vendors selling all kinds of stuff, it was cool to stroll the town in period clothing and be greeted with many smiles from the folks.
